Flim Flam and Hocus Pocus

Nothing is what it seems.

But you already knew that, right?

The times they are a-changing.

     Come senators, Congressmen
     Please heed the call
    Don't block at the doorway
    Don't block up the hall

The movie is a little bit dated, but still remains a classic from the Australian New Wave (in the same vein as Peter Weir's Picnic at Hanging Rock and The Last Wave from the same era).

But some stories are as old as time itself—and thus being timeless remain true for all times, regardless of the sociopolitical context of the era in which they were told. And so, as such, the specific details of this particular political intrigue are mostly incidental.

Maybe some contemporary director will find it in their heart to create a modern remake of the film.

Besides, Rasputin is such an epitomical figure...

There are not 1000 ways of saying it:

Welcome to the world, N & C!

You were born.

And so you're free.

So happy birthday.

And all that sort of thing.

I know, right?

Sometimes the current
Is with you, and sometimes against;
Who keeps changing it?

Some have derided it as a clumsy hoax; others have praised it as a powerful grimoire. As time has passed, more information has come to light both on the book's origins and discovery, and on the information contained within its pages.

Grand Exit

Think of your last moments as the final summation of an essay, the rousing conclusion of a stump speech, or the grand finale of your one-man or one-woman show. It's your last chance to make a strong impression. In the space of just a few brief moments, you'll shape the image that your friends and your close ones will keep of you forever as they remember you…possibly for generations to come. A legend to their children and their great grandchildren.

We all have to go sometime. And so, when that fated moment comes of which I speak when I too one day must go, may it be like this old man, with a flourish and a last trick up my sleeves.

And don't...

Just don't you dare look under the bed, you Philistines you.
